Wow: Dodge Dealer honors disputed eBay Challenger auction and then some

Well, score one for the little guy. Or, as the case may be, the guy that won an eBay auction, getting himself one helluva mondo deal on a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8. To refresh your memory, a Southern California dealer called Glenn E Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep had the Challenger in question on eBay. The Buy It Now price was $43,425 and the reserve (according to Glenn E Thomas) wa

Followup: Not so fast, says dealer of Dodge Challenger eBay debacle

Earlier this week, we shared with you the budding saga of "Hitman" and the fact that he had won a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 from Glenn E Thomas Dodge Chrysler Jeep for the amazing low price of $29,100 – about $13,000 less than the car is worth and also $13,000 less than Glenn Thomas wanted to sell it for. However, because eBay auctions are "legally binding" contracts

eBay Motors begins offering free vehicle history reports from Experian

Consumers wary of purchasing vehicles off eBay may take a bit of comfort in the online auction site's announcement that all vehicles built since 1981 will now include free vehicle history reports effective today. The "AutoCheck" information, supplied by Experian Automotive, will detail whether vehicles have been involved in major accidents, have salvage titles, have been stolen or repossessed, have had their odometers tampered with, or have seen special duty as a taxi or police vehicle. Of cours

eBay Find of the Day: three low-speed electric cars for $13,500

How much is too much for a neighborhood electric vehicle? If you're talking about a somewhat unknown NEV that looks like a smart fortwo, can go about 60 miles per charge at a speed of 28 mph and are currently located in Alberta, Canada, $4,500 is too much. That's the lesson we take away from an eBay auction that ends tomorrow and has, well, zero bids. Zilch. The cars are being sold as a lot

Henderson: GM to experiment selling cars through eBay Motors

As part of its post-bankruptcy rebirth, General Motors plans to "experiment" selling its cars on eBay. At its press conference this morning, CEO Fritz Henderson let slip to members of the media that the automaker is engaged in talks with online auction site eBay "to revolutionize how people buy cars online." According to Henderson, GM has plans to try selling its vehicles online:

"CEO 1" numberplate brings record 154,100 bid on eBay

The personalized license plate phenomenon has taken hold all across the globe. While Americans rightly refer to them as Vanity Plates, they aren't the only ones to go ga-ga over just the right combination of letters and numbers. In the UK, the fascination is even more notable because people own the plates and can keep them as they move from vehicle to vehicle, or even buy or sell plates they like. Recently a plate with a very desirable code came up for auction on Frank Filipponio

eBay Find of the Day: '97 Jeep Wrangler with Corvette LS1 power

The 1997 Jeep Wrangler's torquey 4.0L inline six-cylinder engine was well suited to the machine's superb rock crawling abilities. That's doesn't mean all room for improvement has disappeared from underneath the hood. One owner looked across the aisle to General Motors for a new motor that would significantly improve the Wrangler's power-to-weight ratio. Said owner shoehorned an LS1 V8 from a Corvette behind that trademark seven-bar grille from Jeep and created a Wranglevette that's currently up

eBay Motors is for wimps: Grassroots Marketplace launches for hardcore among us

We love eBay Motors and can literally waste spend hours sifting through its vehicle offerings. At heart, however, it's an auction house for the mass populace, not die-hard auto enthusiasts. Grassroots Motorsports, perhaps our favorite buff book produced in the U.S., has just opened the Grassroots Marketplace to cater to those die-hard auto enthusiasts who aren't interested in wading through

eBay Find of the Day: Audi RS6 - HALF OFF!

When talk of the ultimate go-anywhere, do-anything vehicle pops up in the AB offices, the Audi RS6 Avant often gets a mention. This is one superfast grocery getter that has sophistication and style to spare. And apparently safety hasn't been overlooked either, as one extremely lucky owner recently discovered. While moving along at a fairly good clip on a familiar stretch of roadway, the driver lost control and made impact with a tree. The vehicle did its job and absorbed the energy so that the d

eBay Find of the Day: Chop-top Caravan

This is just too sick for words. Maybe it was a factory attempt at ditching the soccer mom image. Or perhaps it's a reject from an episode of that failed pilot, Pimp My Mom's Ride. Whatever the motivation, somebody took a 1997 Chrysler Co. minivan and decided to turn it into a tri-tone, one-seat, open-top lowrider. The eBay description alternately describes it as a Chrysler and a Plymouth, but the nose is definitely a Dodge. So your guess is as good as ours as to which it truly is, but

eBay Find of the Day: The Hoff's 911T

Look what Autoblog fan Omar found for us on eBay. What appears to be just another 1970 Porsche 911 T is, in fact, the closest many of us would ever get to being near Michael Knight and Mitch Buchanan. That's right, this rare sunroof 4-speed car once belonged to DAVID HASSELHOFF! And the seller promises to provide proof of der Hoff's ownership, as well.

Do you gift wrap? eBay Motors does

Starting today, you can worry about gift-wrapping one less item on your Holiday gift list. At least if you happen to live in the United Kingdom. Although many manufacturers advertise cars as gifts for the holidays, showing vehicles adorned with oversized bows lining streets and driveways for delighted loved

eBay Find of the Day - Winding Road: eBay Motors Edition

In our eternal quest for odd and exciting auctions on eBay Motors, we were surprised to find a new link on the homepage that led us to a special version of Winding Road called the eBay Motors Edition. We're always curious as to what those digital publishers are up to, so we downloaded a free copy (all issues of Winding Road are free to download, for those who don't know).

eBay Find of the Day: Matthew McConaughey's 1971 Corvette Stingray Convertible

The Universe in its unquestionable wisdom has seen fit to make Matthew McConaughey a star. Apparently the A-list actor sees the irony in this fact just like we do and has decided to give a little back to the cosmos. McConaughey is auctioning off his 1971 Corvette Stingray Convertible on eBay Motors with all proceeds earmarked for Oprah's Angel Network's Hurricanes Katrina and Rita recovery efforts. Currently the bidding is up to $40,040 with 25 bids.
